Kenny Loggins Biography

Kenny Loggins is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who has been active in the music industry since 1968. He first gained popularity as part of the duo Loggins and Messina from 1972 to 1977, during which they produced five albums of original material and two live albums, selling 16 million records. Their hits included "Listen to a Country Song," "Danny's Song," and "A Love Song." In 1977, Loggins initiated his solo career with the album "Celebrate Me Home," and his album "Nightwatch" included the hit song "Whenever I Call You Friend" with Stevie Nicks. He then went on to have a string of soundtrack successes as a solo artist, earning him the title of the King of the Movie Soundtrack.

Loggins's notable soundtrack hits include "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack, "Footloose," "Danger Zone," and "Playing with the Boys" from Top Gun. For these contributions, he received an Academy Award nomination for the song "Footloose" in 1985. Loggins also co-wrote the song "What a Fool Believes" with Michael McDonald, earning them a Grammy for Song of the Year, and he won a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the song "This Is It." In 1994, he released a popular children's album called "Return to Pooh Corner," which was followed by another children's album, "All Join In," in 2009. He has won a Daytime Emmy Award and two Grammy Awards and has been nominated for an Academy Award, a Tony Award, and a Golden Globe Award.

In addition to his music career, Loggins has appeared in various TV shows and movies. He performed the theme song for Disney's "The Tigger Movie," "Your Heart Will Lead You Home," and appeared as himself on the television show "Dharma & Greg" in the episode "Tye-Dying the Knot." He also appeared as himself in the animated comedy series "Archer," performing the song "Danger Zone" and singing station jingles. Furthermore, he has voiced a caricature of himself on the animated comedy series "Family Guy." In 2013, Loggins formed the group Blue Sky Riders, and in 2018, he received the inaugural Music Icon Award at the San Diego International Film Festival. Loggins' long-awaited memoir, "Still Alright," was published in 2022 and provides fans with a candid and entertaining perspective on his life and career as one of the most noteworthy musicians of the 1970s and '80s.
