From TV shows to catwalk modelling, cover shoots to high street advertising campaigns, Abigail Clancy has firmly established herself as one of the most sought after faces in the UK. Now, with her role on BBC1’s "Strictly Come Dancing" and her own dress range about to be unveiled by Matalan, 2013 is set to be the busiest year yet for one of Britain’s favourite Liverpudlians.
Abbey first burst into the public conscience in 2004, when she became the runner up in Living TV’s hit series "Britain’s Next Top Model." As well as being coached in modelling by the likes of Lisa Snowdon and Jerry Hall, the series enabled Abbey to work with some of the world’s top fashion photographers and magazines.
Following on the from the success of her stint in the series, Living TV were quick to sign Abbey up for her own series, namely "Abbey & Janice: Beauty & The Best." This six-part series aired in the UK in spring 2007 and followed Abbey through various travails as she was tutored by the world’s first supermodel, Janice Dickinson, to make it in the US modelling world.
Following on from this series, autumn 2007 saw Abbey enroll in ITV1’s primetime reality series, "Hell’s Kitchen." With Marco Pierre White teaching the contestants the art of cordon bleu cooking, Abbey proved a huge hit in the series, winning over both viewers and the UK media alike. This was followed in 2008 with Abbey taking on her first presenting role on ITV2’s "The Fashion Show."
2010 was a big year for Abbey. As well as co-hosting "James Corden’s World Cup Live" for ITV1 she also started presenting a regular fashion slot on ITV’s "This Morning." Abbey’s modelling career also continued apace – spring saw her modelling for an international Umbro advertising campaign and as well as fashion shoots for magazines from Love to Sports Illustrated, Abbey also walked in Giles Deacon’s Spring/Summer 2011 show at September’s London Fashion Week.
The start of 2011 saw Abbey co-hosting a new E4 series, "Great British Hairdresser" alongside celebrity hairdresser James Brown and editor of Glamour magazine, Jo Elvin, in the hunt for the best hairdresser in the UK.
In addition to her TV work, Abbey has continued to model, fronting high profile brand campaigns for the likes of Matalan, Lynx and St Tropez, as well as for magazines from InStyle and Glamour to Esquire and FHM, where she was voted their 10th Sexiest Woman in the World in 2010.
Spring 2011 also saw the birth of Abbey and her partner, Peter Crouch’s first child, Sophia.
