Abby Ferber Biography
Abby L. Ferber, Professor of Sociology, and Women’s and Ethnic Studies, is also the co-founding Director of the Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and The Matrix Center’s signature programs: The Knapsack Institute: Transforming Teaching and Learning.
Ferber’s teaching, writing and service all coalesce around issues of privilege and oppression from an intersectional perspective. She has authored or co-authored more than three dozen articles and book chapters, many of which have been reprinted numerous times. She writes for both academics and the general public. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the CU Elizabeth Gee Memorial Lectureship Award, and the Chase Community Service Award. She is a sought-after public speaker, and presents frequent keynotes, workshops and trainings.
She is strongly committed to the campus, local and professional communities. She has served on the founding Board of three non-profits.
