Adam Greenfield

Adam Greenfield is the Founder & Managing Director of Urbanscale LLC, a world-renowned urbanist, and a leading skeptic of "smart cities." He is a passionate advocate for the human-centered design of technological systems and an influential thinker on urban environments.

With over fifteen years of experience in the technology industry, Greenfield brings a deep understanding of how networked information technologies are designed, developed, and brought to market. His work focuses on the challenges facing contemporary cities. In 2010, following roles as lead information architect for Razorfish in Tokyo and head of design direction for service and user-interface design at Nokia in Finland, he founded Urbanscale in New York City. His firm is dedicated to designing products, services, interfaces, and spatial interventions that make cities more understandable, livable, and responsive to the desires of their inhabitants.

In addition to his practical work, Greenfield has made significant academic contributions. He was awarded the inaugural Senior Urban Fellowship at the LSE Cities center of the London School of Economics in 2013.
