Adama Iwu

Adama is currently Head of North America Government Solutions at Visa. Previously she served as Vice President, Emerging Payment Solutions at Visa, since November 2020. Prior to that she managed Visa’s state government and community relations. She has been with the company since January 2015. Prior to joining Visa, Adama was Head of California Government Affairs at

Farmers Insurance. She was instrumental in the passage of legislation that required ride share companies to provide insurance coverage for their drivers, the creation of model CEQA legislation as well as overall modernization of the insurance code. She also managed Farmers’ California PAC and political engagement. Adama began her career as a fellow in the Schwarzenegger administration and has extensive policy experience in healthcare and financial services.

In October of 2017, The Los Angeles Times published an open letter – led by Adama and signed by over 140 women – on the pervasive culture of sexual harassment, discrimination and assault in politics. That letter struck a chord with women in politics and other industries, who reached out to share their stories – and to call for solutions. This resulted in the creation of the We Said Enough Foundation, whose mission is to eliminate bullying, harassment, and assault in the workplace. Adama now serves as the President of the Board. In December of 2017, Time Magazine recognized Adama as a Silence Breaker and featured her on the cover of their People of the Year edition.

Adama has a BA in Political Science from the University of San Diego and is thrilled to be back home in San Diego after many years in Northern California.
