Aidan Gomez is the CEO of language-based AI platform Cohere, an enterprise-focused company which helps users build the next generation of language-based applications. Cohere helps businesses implement AI into their chatbots, search engines, and other product offerings. Previously, Gomez led a group of researchers at FOR.ai, a non-profit research lab that seeks to solve complex machine learning problems.
Gomez was just 20 years old when he co-authored a research paper that would change the entire AI industry. It was 2017 and Gomez, then a Google intern, joined a team of researchers writing “Attention Is All You Need”; it proposed a novel neural network technique called the transformer that would learn relationships between long strings of data. The paper would eventually underpin the generative AI craze headlined by ChatGPT.
He has been listed by TIME as one of the 100 Most Influential/AI leaders.
Gomez earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at University of Oxford and his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto.
