Aja Naomi King first garnered attention for her work in the CW medical comedy-drama series "Emily Owens, M.D." Her performance as Cherry Turner in the historical film "The Birth of a Nation" earned her high praise, leading to leading roles in "A Girl from Mogadishu" and "Boxing Day."
