Akira Sakano

“A world traveler, shaping the basement of the HUB to connect community developers in rural areas and developing global leaders” Currently based in Manila, the Philippines with DHL Global Forwarding working as a Tradelane Asia –Japan Desk in Marketing & Sales. Considering that this few years to be the training and development period for myself and my organisation, while based in Hyogo and Tokushima in Japan, moving around the world to deepen individuality & organisational connections.

Biography:  Born in 1989, in Nishinomiya, Hyogo. When in the kindergarten, caught a budgerigar and became a big fan of birds.  When in the 4th grade of the elementary school, got to know about “Kakapo” –the world largest parrot which is endangered, and started to get interested in environmental issues.  Studied abroad in New Zealand for a year while in the high school only because it was the country where Kakapo makes its habitant. Allocated to the school with immigrants from Somalia, Asia, the Pacific Islands etc., got shocked by & gained interests in the diversity of the world.  April 2007 to March 2012, studied Environmental Policy & Law at the department of Policy Studies of Kwansei Gakuin University in Hyogo, Japan  Joined AIESEC, the world largest non-for-profit youth organization in 2007, established Social Entrepreneurs’ Project and facilitated international internships for students while Akira herself also participated in 2 months internship at the Entrepreneurs’ School of Asia Development Foundation in Manila, the Philippines  Became Executive Finance Chief in 2008, President in 2009 at AIESEC Kwansei Gakuin univ. Local Committee, and also Vice President and National Project Chief for AIESEC in Japan in 2010.  With these experiences, became the President of AIESEC in Mongolia in 2011, facilitated the team from US, France and Russia and directed local students to achieve the vision of creating “New Generation of Khaans” to support the sustainable development of the emerging economy and the rapidly booming society in Mongolia.  In 2012, taking role of the Chair of the Internal Control Board of AIESEC International, which is to manage the product quality, conflict solving and audit of entities in the AIESEC Globally, with 20 team members from all over the world.  In May 2012, established an organisation RDND –Aru de Naide- with her friend using her environmental policy speciality, which is to initiate creating a HUB of youth leader development in rural communities in the world, and promoting the sustainable community development by youth –by developing the good case practices of it in Kamikatsu, Tokushima in Japan and sharing the good case practices to the world, as its start up action.
