Alan Yang Biography
Alan Yang is an Emmy Award-winning screenwriter, producer, and director. He is recognized for his work on "Parks and Recreation," "Master of None," and his feature film "Tigertail."
While working on "Parks and Recreation," he met actor and comedian Aziz Ansari. The two co-created the Netflix show "Master of None," which premiered in 2015. The show earned four Emmy nominations, and Yang and Ansari won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for the episode "Parents." The series also won a Peabody Award in 2016 and has been acclaimed as Rotten Tomatoes' Best-Reviewed Comedy of 2015.
Yang has contributed to several other significant projects. He wrote for NBC's "The Good Place" and co-created the Amazon Prime series "Forever." More recently, he has been involved in producing "Little America" for Apple TV and "Free Food For Millionaires" for Netflix. His directional debut, "Tigertail," a movie loosely based on his upbringing, was released on Netflix in 2020. Yang was born and raised in Riverside, California, by Taiwanese immigrants. He studied biology at Harvard University, graduating at age 19. He is also an advocate for Asian American and immigrant communities, using his platform to support these groups.
