Alex Albon

Born in London but racing under the flag of Thailand, Alexander Albon’s first word was in fact Italian. That word was Ferrari – though it was with another Italian team, Scuderia Toro Rosso, that he got his big F1 break.

Idolising Michael Schumacher and aiming for Formula 1 glory, Albon was a strong contender in the junior circuits, securing 3rd Overall in the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and narrowly missing the 2016 GP3 title, finishing 2nd to Charles Leclerc. His competitive spirit was evident as he took the Formula 2 title fight down to the wire in 2018, demonstrating his readiness for higher challenges.

Making his Formula 1 debut at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, Albon quickly proved his mettle, earning a mid-season promotion to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. His rookie season was marked by multiple top-six finishes and a seamless partnership with teammate Max Verstappen. In 2020, he achieved his maiden podium at the Mugello circuit and added another at the Bahrain Grand Prix, confirming his potential at the highest level of motorsport.

After a brief period as a test and reserve driver for Red Bull, Albon joined Williams Racing for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, embracing the challenge of advancing with a new team.
