Alex Blumberg

Alex Blumberg is the cofounder and CEO of Gimlet Media, a company renowned for producing popular podcasts such as "StartUp," "Reply All," and "Homecoming." Before establishing Gimlet, he had an extensive career in radio journalism, contributing significantly as a producer on "This American Life" and co-founding the influential "Planet Money" podcast at NPR. Additionally, Blumberg played a pivotal role in the television adaptation of "This American Life," which aired on Showtime and garnered three Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Nonfiction Series.

Blumberg's documentary projects have always tackled diverse and engaging topics, ranging from life on a US aircraft carrier to prisoners staging a production of "Hamlet." His storytelling prowess and commitment to impactful journalism have earned him numerous awards, including the Polk, the duPont-Columbia, and the Peabody. His acclaimed work, "The Giant Pool of Money," which addresses the housing crisis, has been recognized as one of the past decade’s top ten works of journalism by the Arthur L. Carter School of Journalism and New York University.

Residing in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife and two children, Blumberg continues to influence the media landscape not only through his podcasts but also through appearances on television programs such as "Meet the Press," "Bloomberg News," and "The Colbert Show." He holds a BA in Political Science and Government from Oberlin College.
