Amit Paley

Amit Paley is the Executive Director of the Movement Against Malnutrition, a bold new venture dedicated to ensuring that no child dies of hunger, and the Entrepreneur in Residence at the International Rescue Committee. The Movement Against Malnutrition screens and treats millions of children, designs and researches groundbreaking innovations, and advocates for urgent action to end this global crisis. It was launched by the IRC, the global humanitarian organization that provides aid and development in 40 war-affected countries and refugee resettlement and assistance programs in 28 United States cities.

Previously, Paley was CEO of The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people. Under his leadership, The Trevor Project dramatically expanded the number of LGBTQ young people served, launched a global expansion, and developed innovative technology tools recognized as one of TIME magazine’s top 100 inventions. The organization also transformed its TrevorSpace platform into the largest safe-space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, created a leading-edge research department, and operated the world's largest grassroots campaign to end conversion therapy.

Paley was also an Associate Partner at the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where his clients included Fortune 500 companies, governments, and non-profit organizations. Paley served as a leader in the firm’s digital, health care, and non-profit practices. Earlier he worked at The Washington Post covering several high-profile beats, including as a foreign correspondent based in Iraq, where his work was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and a financial investigative journalist.

Today, Paley is a sought-after speaker who has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and CNN. Paley has served on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Steering Committee, the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Board of the Center for Public Integrity. As Chair of the The Harvard Crimson, Paley oversaw its financial aid program and led a $15 million campaign, the largest in the history of collegiate journalism. Paley was an adjunct professor at City University of New York, is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and has been included in 40 Under 40 lists for Fortune and Crain’s, OUT Magazine’s OUT100 and NBC’s #Pride 50. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where he was president of The Harvard Crimson, and earned an MBA at Columbia Business School.
