While on the obituaries desk she launched "Overlooked," an award- winning series telling the stories of remarkable people who never received a New York Times obit. Before joining the Times, Padnani worked as a reporter at The Star-Ledger, The Journal News, Newsday, The Staten Island Advance and The Herald News. She is also a marathon runner and cocaptain of the Times Run Club.
