Anna Rosling Ronnlund

Anna Rosling Rönnlund is a co-founder of the Gapminder Foundation, which she started in 2005 alongside Hans Rosling and Ola Rosling. The foundation is dedicated to promoting sustainable global development and achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Gapminder functions as a non-profit, internet-based museum, creating various educational tools to increase public understanding of complex global trends.

Rosling Rönnlund initially gained prominence for designing the user-interface of the animating bubble-chart tool known as Trendalyzer. This tool has become a vital educational resource, helping millions of students around the world grasp global development trends. After Gapminder, she joined Google in Mountain View, CA, where she worked from 2007 to 2010 as a Senior Usability Designer. During her tenure at Google, she was responsible for enhancing search results for public data and developing tools to facilitate data exploration. She also improved the Motion Chart in Google Spreadsheets. In 2010, Rosling Rönnlund returned to Gapminder to develop new free teaching materials and currently holds multiple roles there, including Product Manager, Art Director, and Usability Lead.

An expert in sociology and photography, Rosling Rönnlund utilizes her educational background to further her mission of combating ignorance with a fact-based worldview. She also founded "Dollar Street," a project under Gapminder which uses photos to illustrate global living conditions in a clear and relatable manner. This project is particularly impactful as it provides a visual understanding of everyday life across different economic conditions, aiming to be utilized in classrooms worldwide to educate the next generation on true global living standards.

Rosling Rönnlund's contributions to data visualization and global education are exemplified not only in her project work and roles at Gapminder but also in her co-authorship of the book "Factfulness," launched in April 2018.
