Anne Philpott

Anne Philpott is a public health professional, pleasure propagandist and guerrilla girl of HIV prevention. In 2004, she founded The Pleasure Project, an initiative that seeks to incorporate pleasure into safer sex education. Her work is not only grounded in academic theory, but also in the practical experience of delivering sex education and frontline services, managing grants, and commissioning health programs.

The Pleasure Project bridges the worlds of public health and adult entertainment and is globally recognized for its innovative approach to sex education. Under Philpott's leadership, The Pleasure Project was awarded the Phil Harvey Prize for Passion in Reproductive Health in 2016. Philpott herself has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in esteemed health journals and frequently speaks at international conferences. Her subject matters range from promoting pleasure in sex education to nutrition and disease prevention services.

Philpott's diverse career has taken her around the world. She has worked in various roles in the UK, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand. Her work has spanned from teenage pregnancy prevention projects to domestic violence refuges, and she has been behind some of the world's first female condom programs. Such experiences have allowed her to increase the global use of female condoms by 60%.

Alongside her work with The Pleasure Project, Philpott also served as a senior health adviser for the UK Government and headed the regional Ebola team. She was instrumental in creating WISH, the UK Government's largest-ever international sexual health program, and spearheaded their expansion to include nutrition in the health portfolio. Philpott has a degree in Psychology and a Masters (MSc) in Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Her contributions extend into academia, where she's published widely on topics of sexual health and nutrition.
