Anthony Ramos

Anthony Ramos, a Grammy-winning artist and Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor is best recognized for originating the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Hamilton," graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a degree in musical theatre. He received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Hamilton’s release on Disney+. Ramos also appeared in various regional and touring musical productions before his breakthrough in Hamilton.

Ramos can also be seen starring as Usnavi in Jon M. Chu’s In the Heights, the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical, which was released in theatres and streaming via HBO Max. For his portrayal of Usnavi Ramos earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film as well as was included in INDIE WIRE’s 2021 year-end Best Performance round-up. He also appears in HBO’s reimagining of the Emmy Award-winning series "In Treatment" opposite Uzo Aduba. Ramos is slated for roles in the action film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the sequel to Twister, and he will be featured in the much-anticipated Marvel series "Ironheart." In addition, Ramos will star in the Broadway revival of "Amadeus," depicting Mozart.

Additional achievements include his role opposite Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the Academy Award-winning film A Star Is Born, starring as Mars Blackmon in Spike Lee’s critically-acclaimed Netflix series "She’s Gotta Have It" and voicing King Trollex in Paramount’s Trolls World Tour. Trolls World Tour is the sequel to the 2016 animated hit, Trolls. Furthermore, Ramos received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in the 2020 stage recording of "Hamilton."

As a recording artist, Ramos made his solo debut with the release of his EP, "Freedom," a collection of future soul-pop anthems inspired by the 2016 presidential election and the political climate in the world. The EP garnered critical acclaim, attracting the attention of Republic Records, who signed him soon after. In 2019, Ramos released his debut album, "The Good & The Bad," via Republic Records. He also released a single called "Almost Like Praying" in 2017 for Puerto Rico relief. The album received extensive critical praise and debuted in the Top 10 on iTunes Pop Albums Chart upon release. He then unveiled an uplifting single “Stop” in 2020 amid the pandemic and social activism.   

Ramos then released his highly anticipated sophomore album, "Love and Lies," in 2021, featuring tracks such as “Say Less” and “Blessings,” reflecting a significant evolution for Ramos, leaning into a sensuous R&B sound and provocative lyrics.
