Anton J. Gunn

Anton J. Gunn is the Founder & President of the 937 Strategy Group, LLC, a national consulting firm that equips the next generation of social and political entrepreneurs in the health & human services industries. Gunn's work currently emphasizes the intersection of healthcare, wellness, technology, and innovation. He advises startups and healthcare organizations on the development of new products and services. Previously, he served as a senior official in the Obama Administration as the Director of External Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, where he advised President Barack Obama and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on public engagement strategies to introduce Main Street to the Affordable Care Act.

Having delivered more than 900 healthcare presentations, Gunn is a nationally recognized speaker in the healthcare field. His insights are sought by a broad array of media outlets on national policy issues. With insider knowledge, he presents a clear and comprehensive understanding of healthcare reform. Throughout his distinguished twenty-year career in healthcare and human services, Gunn has served as a chief executive, organizational development trainer, and social & political strategist. He was also the first African American elected to represent his district in the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2008. His professional experience and contributions to diversity and leadership have earned him several accolades, including being named one of the Ten Most Influential Minority Executives in Healthcare by Fierce Healthcare.

Gunn holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina, where he also played Division I college football. He is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), a prestigious designation held by fewer than 10% of the members belonging to the International Federation for Professional Speakers. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Speakers Association, among other professional groups.
