Aparna Hegde

Dr. Aparna Hegde, an internationally renowned Urogynecologist, is the Founder of NGO, ARMMAN which creates scalable programs using technology innovatively to impact maternal & child health. ARMMAN works in 16 states in India & it’s five programs have impacted the lives of more than 23 million women & their children.

She is Associate Professor (Hon) of Urogynecology at Cama Hospital, Grant Medical College, Mumbai, one of India’s first comprehensive Centers of Excellence in the field. She is also Founder of the Center for Urogynecology and Pelvic Health, New Delhi and a Consultant Urogynecologist at Global Hospital, Surya Hospital and Womens Hospital in Mumbai.

She is a Senior Visiting Fellow at IIM Ahmedabad. She is a member of the Editorial Board of International Urogynecology Journal, the International Urogynecology Committee on Prolapse and the 7th International Consultation on Continence. She is a Board Member of FIUGA (Foundation for International Urogynecological Assistance).

Dr. Hegde is also an accomplished researcher and has done pioneering work in the field of 2D and 3D ultrasound of the pelvic floor which she teaches internationally. She has over 75 publications/abstracts and is the Principal Investigator of a prestigious NIH grant.

She has been awarded the prestigious Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, 2020; TED Fellowship 2020, the British Medical Journal South Asia Award for maternal and child health team of the year 2018, the WHO Public Health Champion Award in Innovation category (2017), the Social Entrepreneur of the year award in 2018 by USAID, Woman ChangeMaker Award by Geneva based Womanity Foundation in 2017 among other awards. She was one of the five global women leaders featured in the Voice of America documentary, A Single Step: Journeys of Women Leaders in 2015. Dr. Hegde holds MD, MS (Stanford University), IUGA International Fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery (Cleveland Clinic Florida).
