Arthur Wylie

Arthur Wylie's passion for investing started in college, when he discovered that he not only enjoyed, but had a knack for, trading stocks. It was not long before Wylie transformed his fascination with the stock market into a thriving business enterprise.

Fiscally savvy, Wylie drew upon his own expertise when he decided to launch his own venture. "Banks saw that I was a young, black man and they created a no-win situation for me." When he applied for a loan, officers responded by stating that he needed better credit, additional collateral, and more capital.

To ensure that his credit was flawless, Wylie contacted credit agencies in search of any discrepancies on his credit report and, if needed, he disputed the claims. To obtain additional collateral, he took matters into his own hands and started buying properties, and in 2000, he added real estate services to his repertoire. He set aside profits earned from real estate sales to help him accumulate capital. Although banks are now more willing to offer the entrepreneur funding, Wylie admits it still does not come easily.

Wylie is now the 29-year-old President of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Arthur Wylie Wealth Management Group (AWWMG.) He founded AWWMG in 1999 immediately after graduating from college, following through on the personal strategies that helped him accumulate wealth and fund his college education. Wylie's firm is currently responsible for managing in excess of 60 million dollars in investments, insurance in force, and real estate. With a mission to help individuals and corporations accumulate and manage wealth, AWWMG is now one of the fastest growing minority independent financial consultant firms in the East Coast.

Currently serving on the UNC-Charlotte Board of Governors, Wylie was awarded the 2003 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. He is also one of the Charlotte Business Journal's 2004 "40 Under 40" winners honoring men and women under the age of 40 that have made great advances both professionally and in the community.
