Asher Hasan

Asher Hasan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NAYA JEEVAN, a social enterprise dedicated to providing affordable healthcare to low-income families in emerging markets. NAYA JEEVAN has been recognized for its innovative approach, winning first prize in the 2008 New York University Stern Business Plan Competition in the social entrepreneurship track.

Hasan's commitment to social entrepreneurship has been widely recognized. He is a recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Centennial Innovation Award and the Asia Society Public Service Award for 2013. He was also named the World Economic Forum/Schwab Foundation Asian Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011. Previously, he served as the Senior Director and Head of the US Medical Affairs Obesity Team at Amylin Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Hasan has an impressive academic and research background. He completed an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and attended Oberlin College, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and biology, with an additional concentration in international relations. His research activities have included work at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and he received training in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center. Hasan was also selected to join the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Social Innovation for 2012-2014 and is a noted member of several fellow programs including the 2013 Synergos Senior Fellow, a 2009 TED Fellow, a 2011 Ashoka US Fellow, and a 2011 Ariane de Rothschild Fellow. He is an invited member of the Clinton Global Initiative for 2009 and 2010.
