Ashley Eakin Biography
Born in California and raised in Omaha Nebraska, Ashley Eakin is an authenticity and vulnerability advocate and filmmaker born with a physical disability.
In 2017 Ashley was featured in a SoulPancake video talking about her rare bone condition, Olliers disease and Maffucci Syndrome. The video went viral, reaching over 50 million views and counting. Her personal life and medical journey have immensely influenced her passion to pursue stories that help people understand one another and how inclusion of people with disabilities is the next wave to change the world. She believes the positive impact of vulnerability is immeasurable and is passionate about sharing her message.
She recently completed her short film SINGLE, which will premiere at the SXSW film festival in March 2020. In 2019 she was 1 of 8 women selected for prestigious American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. Prior to pursuing her own projects, she worked under film director Jon M. Chu which included spending five months in Malaysia and Singapore working on the film Crazy Rich Asians.
