Avid Modjtabai

Avid Modjtabai is the Senior Executive Vice President at Wells Fargo & Company. She is responsible for Wells Fargo's Consumer Lending Group (CLG) and Operations Group, and leads approximately 65,000 team members.

The Consumer Lending Group serves 27 million households and helps consumers with their borrowing needs—from everyday goods and services to major purchases to achieving and sustaining homeownership. CLG includes Home Lending, Dealer Services, Auto Finance, Consumer Credit Cards, Financial Services, Personal Lines and Loans, and Retail Services.

Wells Fargo’s Operations Group manages core bank functions across Wells Fargo, including check processing, statement processing, ATM operations, ACH and wires, fraud disputes, cash vaults, lockbox, safe-deposit processing, armored logistics, accounting support for retail stores, and deposit document retention.

A 23-year veteran of Wells Fargo, Modjtabai has served in a number of leadership roles. Prior to leading CLG and Operations, she was the head of the Technology and Operations Group and Chief Information Officer. In this role, she led the customer conversion activities, and the systems and infrastructure integration for the Wells Fargo – Wachovia merger. As Chief Information Officer she was responsible for the core technology functions of the company including computing, data centers, connectivity and voice and data networks, end-user services, enterprise architecture, application development, information security, and technology governance.

Modjtabai also served as head of Human Resources where she was responsible for developing and implementing people strategies to support Wells Fargo’s business objectives. Prior to her role in HR, Modjtabai led the Internet Services Group, where she helped Wells Fargo become the leading provider of online financial services. Her early roles at the company included management positions in Consumer Deposits and the Investment Group, following work at McKinsey & Company, where she focused on strategy initiatives in financial services.

As an active member of the community, she serves on the board of trustees for The Marine Mammal Center and is an advisory member of the Columbia Business School Social Enterprise Program and Stanford Center on Longevity. Modjtabai also serves on the board of directors for Avnet, Inc., a leading global technology distributor.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. in finance from Columbia University.
