Barry Posner

Barry Posner is a prominent scholar and researcher, a bestselling author, and an accomplished teacher and educator, named one of the Top 50 Leadership Coaches in America. He has been recognized with several national honors, including being ranked among the Most Influential HR thinkers in the world by HR Magazine and listed among the Top 75 Leadership and Management Experts by Inc. magazine.

He is co-author of "The Leadership Challenge," the award-winning, best-selling book that has become a standard in the leadership training industry with more than a million and a half copies sold and has been translated into over 20 languages. Barry has also co-authored other notable books including "Credibility: How Leaders Gain and Lose It, Why People Demand It," and "Learning Leadership: The Five Fundamentals for Becoming an Exemplary Leader." His literary contributions extend to more than 100 research and practitioner-focused articles published in respected outlets such as the Harvard Business Review and Academy of Management Journal.

Currently holding the Michael J. Accolti, S.J. Chair and Professor of Leadership at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University, he served as Dean of the school for twelve years (1997–2009). In addition to his academic roles, he has been an influential visiting professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Sabanci University (Istanbul), and the University of Western Australia. Barry has also served on several corporate boards and public and community organizations, demonstrating his commitment to applying leadership principles in practical contexts.
