Bassam Tariq Biography
Bassam Tariq is a filmmaker and writer based in New York City. He is the co-director of THESE BIRDS WALK which was hailed by the New Yorker as one of the top 50 foreign films of the 21st century. He is a TED Fellow whose TED talk has been viewed over 1.3 million times. He is also the inaugural fellow of Sundance’s Art of Nonfiction program and is writing his next feature film.
His five year long transmedia documentaries, 30 Days/Ramadan and 30 Mosques, are currently exhibited at the MIT’s Open Documentary Lab. He was named one of the 25 filmmakers to watch by Filmmaker Magazine and was named one of the most promising filmmakers from Brooklyn by L Magazine (he lives in Queens). His writings have appeared in TIME, the New Yorker, Huffington Post, CBC, and CNN. He is represented by RadicalMedia as a director and freelances as a creative in advertising.
