Ben Lamm

Ben Lamm is the co-founder and CEO of Colossal Biosciences, a venture capital-backed startup that aims to utilize genetic and reproductive technologies to bring extinct species back to life, most notably with the goal of resurrecting the woolly mammoth within the next decade. One of his most recent remarkable achievements includes the successful revival of the dire wolf in 2025 through his company's de-extinction work. In addition to his role at Colossal Biosciences, Lamm is also the co-founder and board member of Form Bio, a software company launched in 2022 that is dedicated to improving the efficiency of scientific research.

Lamm is known for his commitment to solving the world's most complex challenges, one of which involves the application of synthetic biology for conservation efforts. In 2024, he took a significant step in this direction by establishing The Colossal Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. Furthermore, in his pursuit of environmental solutions, he founded Breaking, a startup that seeks to address plastic degradation through the discovery and application of a microbe capable of breaking down plastics.

Recognized as a serial entrepreneur, Lamm has a track record for founding and steering various companies in innovative spaces such as AI, synthetic biology, gaming, and more. Some of his ventures include Simply Interactive, Chaotic Moon Studios, Team Chaos, Conversable, and Hypergiant Industries, all of which were later acquired by larger firms. His contributions to the tech industry have been recognized, as evidenced by his inclusion on a panel discussing de-extinction at the 2022 South by Southwest festival. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Lamm is a member of the Board of Trustees for The Explorers Club.
