Ben Sherwood

Ben Sherwood is the CEO of The Daily Beast and founder and former CEO of MOJO, a tech and media platform geared towards enhancing accessibility in youth sports. Sherwood's leadership has been pivotal in achieving significant milestones, such as MOJO's acquisition by TeamSnap in December 2023, where he continues to serve as a board member.

Previously, Sherwood held the position of Co-chair of Disney Media Networks and President of the Disney|ABC Television Group. In this capacity, he was responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s global entertainment and news television properties, including the ABC Television Network and Disney Channels Worldwide. His portfolio also included overseeing the ABC Owned Television Stations Group and the company's interests in equity entities such as A+E Networks, Fusion, and Hulu. Under his leadership, Sherwood played a crucial role in the launch of the Disney+ streaming service, a significant innovation in the company's digital expansion.

Sherwood’s earlier career includes his tenure as President of ABC News from December 2010, where he led the news division to top ratings, numerous journalism awards, and record profitability. Notably, under his leadership, "Good Morning America" ascended to become the #1 morning TV news program. His contributions to journalism began at ABC News as an investigative associate producer, followed by a role at NBC’s “Nightly News with Tom Brokaw” where he served first as broadcast producer and then as senior producer. He later returned to ABC News as the executive producer of "Good Morning America."

An accomplished author, Sherwood has penned several New York Times bestsellers including "The Survivors Club: The Secrets and Science that Could Save Your Life," "The Man Who Ate the 747," and "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud," which was adapted into a feature film titled "Charlie St. Cloud" starring Zac Efron. His works reflect a deep engagement with themes of survival and human interest, which have garnered critical acclaim.

Sherwood is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard College and a former Rhodes Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford. His commitment to public service is evident through his involvement with organizations such as the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Constitution Center, and City Year Los Angeles. Sherwood’s influence and accomplishments in media and technology continue to be recognized, with accolades such as being named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company and receiving a Webby Award for the best sports app for MOJO.
