Bobby Finke

Bobby Finke is a professional swimmer who has competed on both national and international stages, starting with his early career at the Saint Petersburg Aquatics Club team. At the age of 14, he broke the Florida Age Group State Championships (FLAGS) 800m freestyle meet record and the 1500m freestyle meet record. He also won the USA Swimming Open Water Junior Nationals during this period and was a two-time NISCA All-American and a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-America during high school.

Finke's college career at the University of Florida from 2018-2022 under Coach Anthony Nesty was commendable. It earned him eleven-time All-American accolades and made him an NCAA Champion in 2021 and 2022. His performance at the 2020 U.S. Open Swimming Championships earned him a gold medal in the 1500-meter freestyle, silver in the 800-meter freestyle, and 400-meter individual medley and helped him qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. After turning professional following the 2022 NCAA Championships, Finke continued to train as part of the pro group at UF.

In his professional career, Finke has continued to shine in the swimming arena. He won two gold medals for the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle swims, setting an American record in the 800-meter freestyle. He then successfully defended his title in the 1500-meter freestyle at the 2024 Summer Olympics, setting a world record, and added a silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle. He remains the only U.S. male swimmer to win an individual gold medal in the 1500-meter freestyle at the Olympics. His significant performances also include the American record in the 1650y freestyle in the short course pool and the U.S. Open record in the 800-meter freestyle. His performance in the 800-meter freestyle at the 2020 Summer Olympics earned him the prestigious Golden Goggle Award for Male Race of the Year in 2021.
