Brendan Hunt

Brendan Hunt is a Writers Guild of America and Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, and playwright based in Los Angeles.

Hunt can be seen as Coach Beard in "Ted Lasso," a series he co-created with Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, and Joe Kelly. This show has garnered several accolades, including the Writers Guild of America Award in 2021 for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and New Series and the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2022 for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Additionally, Hunt's work on "Ted Lasso" has resulted in him receiving a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards for the "Key & Peele Super Bowl Special."

A Chicago native and a sketch and improv comedy veteran, Hunt’s longest tenure with any group was with Amsterdam’s notorious Boom Chicago, where he performed with Sudeikis, Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Ike Barinholtz, Heather Anne Campbell, and many more. He has also made significant strides in theatre, winning the Lead Actor in a Musical at the 2010 Ovation Awards for his role in the musical "Savin' Up for Saturday Night" and the Solo Performance award at the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival Awards for his one-man play "Still Got It."

Hunt's other theatrical achievements include writing and starring in the play "Absolutely Filthy," a dark comedy parody that won multiple awards, including Top of the Fringe and Best Comedy at the 2013 Hollywood Fringe Festival, as well as three awards at the 2014 FringeNYC, including an acting award for himself. He was also a winner in the categories of Best Male Performance and Comedy Ensemble at the 2014 LA Weekly Theater Awards.

Another notable part of Hunt's career involves his passion for soccer. While living in Amsterdam, Hunt became a massive fan of the sport, eventually writing a weekly soccer column for a Dutch commuter newspaper. He wrote an award-winning Premier League advertising campaign for NBC Sports, earning him a Bronze award at the 2014 Sports Clio Awards. In 2023, he began performing his solo show "The Movement You Need," in which he recounts his encounter with Paul McCartney and his life experiences related to The Beatles.

In addition to his acting and writing work, Hunt has also been featured in commercials for major brands, including GEICO, Skittles, Oscar Mayer, and Volkswagen.
