Brittany Snow is an actress, model, and singer who began her career at a young age, modeling for print advertisements when she was three years old. Snow's father, John, quit his job in insurance to manage her burgeoning acting career full-time. In 1998, he secured her an agent who quickly led her to an audition for "Guiding Light." This led to a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress and paved the way for a starring role in "American Dreams."
Following her stint on television, Snow transitioned into film, making appearances in "The Pacifier," "John Tucker Must Die," "Hairspray," "Prom Night," and later in the "Pitch Perfect" series, "The Good Half," among others. She also starred in the horror film "X" as Bobby-Lynne Parker and in the short film "Red, White and Blue," which was nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the 96th Academy Awards. Apart from her acting, Snow has ventured into directing, making her directorial debut with the drama film "Parachute," which premiered at the SXSW festival in March 2023. She has also lent her voice to video games, including the "Kingdom Hearts" series and "Skylanders: SuperChargers."
Snow is also known for her vocal performances and dancing abilities. However, she has spoken openly about the challenges that accompanied her early fame. In an October 2007 issue of People magazine, Snow revealed her struggles with eating disorders, depression, and self-mutilation as early as her "Guiding Light" days. Following professional counseling, she felt confident moving forward and used her experiences to advocate for mental health awareness.
Snow co-founded the Love is Louder movement, a project to combat bullying in schools. This initiative has been implemented by thousands of individuals, campuses, and communities to address issues such as bullying, body image, discrimination, and depression. In 2015, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recognized Snow with a Special Recognition Voice Award for her endeavors to raise awareness about mental health issues. Moreover, she co-founded the charity September Letters in 2016, further contributing to mental health awareness. Snow has supported numerous charities including Clothes off Our Back, Declare Yourself, Do Something, Feeding America, Habitat For Humanity, Point Foundation, Red Cross, Soles4Souls, The Heart Truth, The Trevor Project, Stomp Out Bullying, and The Art of Elysium. She also appeared in the NOH8 Campaign in 2012.
