Bruce Deel is the founder and CEO of City of Refuge, a program in Atlanta that helps people struggling with poverty. The organization, which was founded in 1997, provides housing, mental and medical health care, educational training, vocational training and more to the disenfranchised in Atlanta. They have helped over 20,000 people.
Deel was inspired to start such an organization after he was appointed pastor in a bad neighborhood in Atlanta. Shortly after starting there, he was approached by a woman who had been a hooker and a stripper for years. She asked him to help her and he was moved to help the community as a whole.
