Cari Champion

Cari Champion is a distinguished broadcast journalist and television personality with extensive experience in sports media. She co-anchored the noon, coast-to-coast edition of “SportsCenter” on ESPN, where she worked for nearly a decade. During her tenure at ESPN, Champion hosted “SportsNation” and moderated “First Take.” She was originally named a “SportsCenter” anchor in 2015.

After leaving ESPN, Champion expanded her career into diverse hosting roles across major networks. She is currently a host at CNN, Amazon, and NFL Network. Champion also co-anchored NBC’s “Tokyo Tonight” during the 2020 Summer Olympic Games and served as a host on TNT’s “The Arena,” a show providing a forum for discussion on provocative topics. Additionally, she co-hosted the reality competition series “The Titan Games” on NBC.

Beyond sports, Champion hosts the podcast “Naked with Cari Champion,” where she conducts authentic interviews with thought-leaders and culture-shifters within the entertainment industry. She made history on Vice TV with Jemele Hill by hosting “Cari & Jemele: Stick to Sports,” the first late-night show on cable hosted by Black women. Furthermore, Champion was honored by Essence at its inaugural Black Women in Sports event and hosted the prestigious 2021 SI (Sports Illustrated) Awards. She also founded Brown Girls Dream, a mentorship network supporting high-potential women of color in various industries.
