Carl Potter

Carl Potter works with organizations that want to put safety first in the minds of their employees, ensuring that everyone can go home every day without injuries.

After working in the electric utility industry for over 17 years, he founded Potter and Associates International in 1993. Through his presentations and consulting, he uses his extensive experience in personal responsibility and safety to assist companies across the US, Canada, and other countries including Africa, Cuba, and Haiti.

He is the founder of The Safety Institute – a resource aimed at creating workplaces where it is difficult to get hurt. This institute serves as a community for independent safety professionals dedicated to preventing workplace injuries. Potter is a certified safety professional, certified management consultant, and certified speaking professional. He is the author of multiple books, including "Who Is Responsible for Safety" and "Zero! Responsible Safety Management by Design," and has authored hundreds of published articles. As an experienced pilot, Potter brings unique perspectives to workplace safety. He is an Aircraft Commander and District Flight Safety Officer in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary – a division of the US Homeland Security. He actively participates in safety and aviation humanitarian efforts with organizations such as Angel Flight of Oklahoma and Mission Aviation Fellowship. Moreover, Potter works extensively with executives to enhance their understanding and implementation of effective safety cultures within their organizations and offers targeted presentations and workshops like "Safety On My Mind" and "Front Row Safety Leadership."
