Carl Waldekranz

Carl Waldekranz is co-founder and CEO of Tictail, an innovative, free-to-use DIY e-commerce platform that allows individuals and retailers to set up their own online store in minutes. Based in Stockholm, Tictail has seen over 40,000 online stores created across 110 countries since its launch in May 2012, including 10,000 in the UK – one of Tictail’s fastest growing markets.

Tictail (a fusion of the words “boutique” and “retail”) was dubbed “the Tumblr of e-commerce” by Wired Magazine in 2012, when Tictail was listed as one of “Europe’s 100 hottest start-ups”. The platform focuses on strong community integration, simplicity of use and attractive, customisable design. Tictail is revolutionising online retail by enabling anyone to create a beautiful online store for free, via a unique and accessible easy-to-use interface. Users can then access extra functionality for their stores as and when they need it by purchasing apps that add features such as discount codes, live chat and monitoring of customers’ dropped or abandoned shopping carts.

A global speaker on the future of e-commerce, Waldekranz has been interviewed on Bloomberg, CNBC, and BBC. Prior to founding Tictail in 2012, Waldekranz worked as Art Director at Identity Works, a brand development agency in Stockholm. In 2006, after leaving school, Waldekranz co-founded a company called Super Strikers, where he did design work for a number of companies including Spotify and Wrapp. He successfully sold the company to a competitor at the age of 23.
