Carlos Baerga

Carlos Baerga is a notable figure in the world of Major League Baseball, popular for his hitting skills. During his tenure with the Cleveland Indians, he exhibited stellar performance and was recognized with three All-Star appearances in 1992, 1993, and 1995. In addition, Baerga was awarded the Silver Slugger Award in 1993 and 1994. He made history as the first-second baseman since Rogers Hornsby in 1922 to have consecutive seasons with over 200 hits, 20 home runs, 100 RBIs, and a batting average of over .300 in 1992 and 1993. His legacy was cemented when he was inducted into the Cleveland Guardians Hall of Fame in 2013.

Baerga has a record of hitting a home run from both sides of the plate in the same inning, a feat he achieved on April 8, 1993, making him one of only three players to do so. Over the course of his career, Baerga collected 1,543 hits, 134 home runs, 774 RBI, and maintained a .291 batting average. After retiring as a player, Baerga transitioned into coaching and management roles. In 2013, he served as an assistant coach for Puerto Rico during the World Baseball Classic, and the same year, he became the manager of the Indios de Mayagüez in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League in Puerto Rico. He continued his journey in coaching as the bench coach of RA12 in 2020.

Apart from his on-field contributions, Baerga has also made his mark as a baseball analyst. He has been a color commentator for "Monday Night Baseball" retransmissions in Spanish on ESPN Dos for the Mexico-Caribbean-Venezuela region. Furthermore, Baerga is an analyst on "Beisbol Esta Noche" on ESPN Deportes and ESPN Latin America. In 2024, he expanded his broadcasting expertise as the analyst for the Cleveland Guardians' Spanish-language radio broadcasts on WARF 1350 AM in Cleveland.
