Carlos Moya

Carlos Moyá Llompart is a retired professional tennis player from Spain known for his powerful forehand and solid baseline game. Having turned pro in 1995, he achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 1 in March 1999. He has won ATP Tour singles titles in 11 different countries: Argentina, Croatia, France, Italy, India, Mexico, Monaco, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United States. Today, he is one of Rafael Nadal's primary coaches.

Moyá's most notable achievement on the court came in 1998 when he won the French Open, defeating fellow Spaniard Alex Corretja in the final. This victory marked him as one of the top clay-court players of his era. In addition to his Grand Slam triumph, Moyá reached the final of the Australian Open in 1997 and was a key player in Spain's Davis Cup victories. His powerful groundstrokes and strategic play earned him a total of 20 singles titles over his career, making him one of the standout players of his generation.

In 2010, Moyá announced his retirement from tennis owing to a long-standing foot injury from which he failed to recover. Since then, he has played an instrumental role in nurturing the next generation of tennis talent, especially his fellow Mallorcan Nadal, and transitioned into coaching. Moyá serves as the Technical Director and Pro Tour Coach at the Rafa Nadal Academy.
