Carol Leifer

Carol Leifer is a comedian, writer and producer whose career in stand-up comedy started in the 1970s when she was in college. She is a 2024 Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for "Hacks."

Leifer has been nominated six times for an Emmy Award for her writing on notable television shows such as "Seinfeld," "The Larry Sanders Show," "Saturday Night Live," "Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter & Love," "The Oscars," and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." She is featured in Showtime’s stand-up comedy special "More Funny Women of a Certain Age."

Leifer has written for the Oscars telecast ten times, holding the record for the most such contributions by a female writer. She has earned a Writer’s Guild Award for her exceptional work on the television comedy "Modern Family," and was nominated for another Writer's Guild Award for her writing for "The Oscars."

She has produced five comedy specials that have aired on HBO, Showtime, and Comedy Central. Notably, Leifer holds the record for the most appearances on "Late Show with David Letterman," having appeared 25 times. She continues to perform stand-up comedy across the country at various prominent comedy clubs, theaters, and universities, often sharing the stage with well-known comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Maher, and Jay Leno, and she is a popular speaker on the corporate circuit.

Leifer remains active in creating and producing comedy content, enriching her contributions to both television and stand-up comedy realms. The author of "When You Lie about Your Age, the Terrorists Win" and "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Crying," she has penned "How to Write a Funny Speech," a 2025 release.
