Caroline Paul is an extreme outdoor enthusiast and best-selling author.
She obtained her pilot's license at twenty and eventually flew paragliders and ultralights. At twenty-three she joined an all-women whitewater team, rafting unexplored rivers in places like Borneo and Australia. A Stanford graduate, Paul joined the San Francisco Fire Department soon after, becoming the fifteenth female firefighter in a department of fifteen hundred men. She is an author of such books as "Tough Broad: From Boogie Boarding to Wing Walking―How Outdoor Adventure Improves Our Lives as We Age," "The Gutsy Girl: Escapades for Your Life of Epic Adventure," and "Fighting Fire."
