Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki is a Danish professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 in singles for a total of 71 weeks, including at the end of 2010 and 2011. She is the first woman in the Open Era from a Scandinavian country to hold the top position. In 2018, she became the first Dane to win a major singles title, defeating Simona Halep in a thrilling final at the Australian Open.

Throughout her career, Wozniacki has won 30 WTA Tour singles titles and two doubles titles. A junior major champion, she won the 2006 Wimbledon girls' singles title and was voted the WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2008. Before her Australian Open victory, she had reached two major finals at the US Open, falling to Kim Clijsters in 2009 and to Serena Williams in 2014. Wozniacki also won the season-ending WTA Finals in 2017, beating Venus Williams, after previously finishing runner-up to Clijsters at the event in 2010.

Wozniacki retired on January 24, 2020, following a third-round loss at the Australian Open. In 2022, she became a commentator for Tennis Channel and ESPN before she announced in June 2023 a comeback at the Canadian Open and the US Open in August, targeting the 2024 Olympic Games.

Wozniacki is known as one of the most marketable athletes in tennis. She has been an ambassador for several global brands and is recognized for her fashion sense, even launching her own line of activewear. She has also been open about her personal challenges, including her battle with rheumatoid arthritis, which she was diagnosed with in 2018.

Wozniacki has a longtime commitment to giving back to those in need and is especially focused on initiatives that support and empower youth, with an emphasis on young girls. As an advocate of USANA Health Sciences, she helped kick-start USANA and WTA’s annual “Aces for Humanity” campaign with the mission of providing critical nutrition to those who are disadvantaged or suffering. She also serves as an ambassador to the Oriflame Charity, whose mission is to empower children through education. Wozniaki supports additional charities through clinics, galas and most notably, her participation in the 2014 New York City Marathon where she ran to benefit the New York Road Runners Youth Program. Other organizations she supports include the Tohoku Charity, UNICEF Spain Committee, FERO Foundation and Champ’Seed Foundation, which serve purposes ranging from assisting those affected by natural disasters to helping young tennis talents who lack the financial resources necessary to reach international levels.
