Cath Bishop

Dr. Cath Bishop draws on her diverse experiences as an Olympic rower, conflict diplomat, and business coach, working with a wide range of organizations across sectors to raise performance, transform cultures, and develop effective leadership and teams. Her athletic career saw her competing at three Olympic Games, earning a World Championship in 2003 and an Olympic silver medal in 2004.

For over a decade, Bishop served as a diplomat, specializing in conflict issues with postings to Bosnia and Iraq, and leading in Whitehall on the UK civilian contribution to stabilizing conflicts around the globe. This diverse background equipped her with leadership, negotiating skills, resilience, and the ability to deliver outstanding performance under extremely challenging circumstances.

Bishop is the author of "The Long Win: The search for a better way to succeed", a book that challenges conventional notions of winning and success, and proposes a new way of thinking across business, sport, and education. Using the latest research from business schools, leadership theory, and organizational psychology, she brings insights as a speaker, facilitator, consultant, and writer into how organizations can develop clarity of purpose, a constant learning mindset, and genuine collaboration to achieve success. Additionally, she co-hosts the "Inside Out Culture Podcast" with Colin Ellis, discussing different aspects of culture and offering practical tips for creating positive work environments. Her monthly blog for The Guardian also offers readers valuable insights on these topics.

Currently, Bishop operates a consultancy business focusing on leadership and team performance, drawing on her experiences from her sports and diplomatic careers. She is also a Visiting Professor at Surrey Business School and teaches on Executive Education programs at the Judge Business School, Cambridge University. She is active in supporting the next generation of sporting talent, including through support of the Youth Sport Trust, the True Athlete Project, and as Trustee of Love Rowing (British Rowing's Charitable Foundation).
