Charlie Montoyo

Charlie Montoyo, a Puerto Rican native, has a rich history in professional baseball, both as a player and a manager. His playing career saw him make a notable appearance for the Montreal Expos in 1993, boasting a batting average of .400 and contributing 3 runs batted in. Transitioning into a managerial role, Montoyo carved a successful path with the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, for eight seasons. His leadership resulted in just one losing season for Durham, and the team exceeded 80 wins five times under his guidance.

Over the years, Montoyo received accolades for his managerial acumen. He was the recipient of the 2009 Mike Coolbaugh Award, followed by the International League Manager of the Year Award in 2010 and 2013.
