Chris Collins Biography
Chris Collins represents New York’s 27th Congressional District in the House of Representatives, having been first elected to Congress in November of 2012. He won reelection in 2014 with over 70% of the vote. Collins serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and its subcommittees: Health, Communications and Technology, and Oversight and Investigations.
Before his tenure in Congress, he served as Erie County Executive, and began his career as a mechanical engineer with Westinghouse Electric in 1972. Collins also has a background as a business owner and entrepreneur, having created and saved hundreds of jobs in Western New York.
Collins’ deep knowledge of both public and business administration, bolstered by his engineering background and entrepreneurial ventures, contribute significantly to his work in Congress, especially evident in his focus on health, technology, and oversight issues.
