Chris Froome

Christopher Froome is a British road racing cyclist, recognized for his significant achievements in cycling's Grand Tours. He is a four-time winner of the Tour de France, securing victories in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Froome has also claimed two victories in the Vuelta a España, including a notable double in 2017 where he won both the Tour de France and Vuelta a España within the same year, a feat rarely accomplished in cycling. Additionally, he achieved a Grand Tour double by capturing his first title in the Giro d’Italia in 2018. Beyond stage races, Froome has secured two Olympic bronze medals representing Great Britain in the road time trials during the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Froome's passion for cycling began during his teenage years in Kenya, where he was mentored by David Kinjah, a local cycling figure and founder of The Safari Simbaz. This early experience in the rural highlands north of Nairobi was pivotal in sparking his interest in cycling. Froome's professional journey saw a significant milestone at the 2008 Tour de France, which he entered shortly after the loss of his mother. Despite these personal challenges, he showcased his potential, particularly in mountain stages and time trials. His performance at the 2012 Tour de France as a super-domestique for Bradley Wiggins, where he won stage seven and finished second overall, set the stage for his subsequent victories.

Apart from his racing achievements, Froome has been actively involved in conservation efforts, particularly focusing on rhino conservation. He is an ambassador for United for Wildlife, an organization dedicated to the protection of endangered species. After a decade with Team Sky/INEOS, Froome joined the Israel Start-Up Nation team in 2021, continuing his illustrious career in professional cycling.
