Chris Kluwe

Chris Kluwe, a writer and former professional football player, is best known for his eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). During his tenure, he set eight individual team records and was part of the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2005, the Minnesota Vikings All-Mall of America Field Team, and was a second-team All-Pac-10 in 2004. In addition to his NFL career, Kluwe has proven his prowess as a musician, playing bass for the Minneapolis alternative/progressive metal band Tripping Icarus.

Off the field, Kluwe has been an outspoken advocate on social issues, particularly same-sex marriage and gay rights. His advocacy led him to be named the Grand Marshal of the 41st annual Twin Cities Pride Festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2013 and to appear on episodes of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." His advocacy also led him to file an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court in 2013 regarding Hollingsworth v. Perry.

After retiring from professional football in 2014, Kluwe pursued his interest in writing, becoming a humor columnist for the sports website Deadspin. He penned the book "Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies" and co-wrote "Prime: A Genesis Series Event (Volume 1)." His writing career extended into game creation with the release of his first tabletop game, "Twilight of the Gods," in 2017. He also contributed to the 2024 book "Kobold Guide to Roleplaying."
