Chris Paul

Chris Paul is a professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs who recently completed his 19th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Golden State Warriors. Regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star, two-time Olympic Gold medalist and listed as one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players in NBA history. He also served as the National Basketball Players Association president for eight years.

Off the court, Paul is a philanthropist and advocate for minority equality. He supports Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and regularly helps to raise awareness for them. In 2020, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Live Nation Urban and Piedmont Triad native and the Chris Paul Family Foundation teamed up to establish a formalized internship pipeline between the university and the company. The partnership supports a new course focused on entertainment, media and sports for students in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics and Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. In March 2022, he was appointed by President Joe Biden to the Advisory Committee for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Paul's philanthropic efforts have earned him the 2016 ESPYs “Humanitarian of the Year” award, 2016 Mannie Jackson Human Spirit Award and the NBA Community Assist Award five times. He was the inaugural recipient of the Kobe and Gigi Bryant Advocacy Award for his significant contributions to the advancement of girls' and women's basketball, and advocacy for the WNBA.
