Christian Mumenthaler Biography
Christian Mumenthaler is the CEO of Swiss Re, one of the world's leading providers of reinsurance and insurance. Additionally, he is Chairman of the Swiss Re Strategic Council, which explores emerging issues and provides strategic insights, advice and recommendations on the global economic, political, regulatory and societal environment.
He first joined Swiss Re in 1999 and has risen through the ranks, serving as Strategy Manager, Head of Retro and Syndication, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Life and Health, and Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Executive Officer for Reinsurance.
Mumenthaler is Chairman of the Geneva Association and Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum's Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders. He serves as a board member of economiesuisse, the Pan-European Insurance Forum, and the Global Reinsurance Forum; sits on the Steering Committee of the Insurance Development Forum and Insurance Europe’s Reinsurance Advisory Board; and is a Board of Trustee of the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies and Avenir Suisse.
Mumenthaler started his career as an associate with the Boston Consulting Group. He received a Ph.D. in physics from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
