Craig Wichner

Craig Wichner is the founder and Managing Partner of Farmland LP, the largest fund manager focused on organic farmland in the U.S. He founded Farmland LP in 2009 and is responsible for its day-to-day management, business strategy, and all investment activity.

Wichner's work as a teenager on California farms inspired him to start Farmland LP with a mission to demonstrate that regenerative agriculture is more profitable than commodity agriculture, maximizing returns for investors. As a result, he is an outspoken advocate for verifiable, data-driven standards to sustainable farmland investing so investors and consumers can look beyond misleading labels and support beneficial farming practices. In 2021, Farmland LP achieved the highest sustainability rating among 10,000+ global corporations reviewed by HIP (Human Impact +Profit) Investor, a leading sustainability rating firm for over 130,000 organizations.

Wichner is a seasoned executive with nearly 30 years of experience building companies such as Depotech, which developed and produces an FDA-approved treatment for metastatic brain cancer (acquired by Skyepharma), and Kindmark, which developed and sold automated employee charitable contribution programs for Fortune 500 Companies (sold to Kintera, now Blackbaud). Wichner has helped manage his family’s real estate portfolio of apartment buildings for over 25 years.

Wichner has a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology, with a minor in economics, from the University of California, San Diego.
