Cyriac Roeding

Cyriac Roeding is the co-founder and CEO of shopkick, Inc., the largest mobile shopping app, and an angel investor in Silicon Valley (Karma Science, CardSpring, Hyperink). Cyriac co-founded shopkick in 2009, with funding from Kleiner Perkins’s iFund and Reid Hoffman/Greylock, Ron Conway and Citi Growth Ventures. Cyriac incubated shopkick while at KPCB as an EIR in 2008/9. Shopkick reached its first million users within six months after its August 2010 launch, and produced $110M revenue for its partners in its first full year of operation. It was named one of the world’s 10 Most Innovative Companies In Retail by Fast Company, along with Apple, Starbucks and Groupon. Shopkick rewards consumers just for walking into stores like Target, Macy’s, Old Navy, Best Buy, American Eagle, Crate & Barrel, Toys”R”Us and Simon Malls (largest U.S. mall operator). Shopkick is the first 100% performance-based marketing platform in the physical retail world, driving measurable foot traffic, transactions and engagement at physical stores.

Previously, Cyriac founded and led CBS Mobile, the television network’s (NYSE: CBS) mobile division, covering CBS Entertainment, CBS Sports, CBS News and The CW. He created the first location-based mobile ads in the U.S.; avatar-based mobile games tied to TV shows; grew CBS Sports Mobile into one of the top ten highest traffic ad-supported mobile websites in the U.S.; created the first virtual reality video gaming experience across TV, online and mobile with “CSI: NY.”

Prior to CBS, Cyriac was the co-founder of 12snap, a European mobile marketing and entertainment company working with Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, L’Oreal, adidas, Nokia, Vodafone and MTV Europe among others. Before that, he was at McKinsey & Company in the media, software and high-tech sector.

Cyriac co-authored the HBS Press book Secrets of Software Success. Cyriac received the first Lion Awards for creative mobile concepts at the Cannes Lions Festival in France (2003, 2004), and the only Emmy nominations for Mobile in 2007 and 2008.
