Damian Marley

Damian Marley, a four-time Grammy recipient, has been making waves in the music industry since 1992. His album "Halfway Tree" bagged the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, a testament to his skills in blending dancehall and reggae with a strong emphasis on Jamaican culture. His third studio album, "Welcome to Jamrock," certified gold in the United States, had its title single reach number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and number 55 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Marley also won two Grammy Awards in 2006 for Best Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for "Welcome to Jamrock."

Marley's collaborative album with Nas, "Distant Relatives," released in 2010, debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart. Reflecting his belief in the power of music as a tool for social change, the proceeds from "Distant Relatives" were dedicated to building schools in the Congo. The album features a fusion of hip-hop and reggae musical elements and addresses themes concerning Africa and social commentary. Marley has also participated in a panel discussion on the African diaspora and its relation to music, sponsored by National Geographic.

From 2011 to 2015, Marley was a member of the supergroup SuperHeavy alongside Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, A.R. Rahman, and Joss Stone. He released his fourth studio album, "Stony Hill" in 2017, which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. In 2012, Marley collaborated with Skrillex on the song "Make It Bun Dem," which received several certifications, including RIAA Platinum. His music has achieved certifications from the British Phonographic Industry and the Recording Industry Association of America, and his album rankings have appeared on Billboard's Top 200 Albums and Top Reggae Albums charts.
