Dan Hampton

The New York Times and international bestselling author, Dan Hampton is one of the most decorated fighter pilots since the Vietnam War. A former lieutenant colonel, he has been awarded a Purple Heart, four Distinguished Flying Crosses with Valor and eight Air Medals with Valor. Throughout his 20-year career he flew 151 combat missions in the Middle East during both Gulf Wars, and is graduate of the elite USAF Fighter Weapons School, USN Top Gun School (TOGS), and USAF Special Operations School. Hampton has lived abroad extensively in Europe and the Middle East, and was an exchange officer with the Egyptian Air Force.

Since the New York Times Bestselling "Viper Pilot," Hampton has published "The Mercenary," "Lords of the Sky," "The Hunter Killers," "The Flight," "Chasing the Demon," and "Vengeance" through Harper Collins. His last work, "Valor," released in May 2022 through St. Martin’s Press, New York, and his next book, "Vanishing Act," releases in May 2024. Hampton's books have been translated into a dozen languages with excerpts published in Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Post, USA Today, Parade, and Newsday. He has also been featured on the History Channel/A&E documentary Finding Amelia, and the Travel Channel’s The Alaska Triangle, as well as the BBC, CSPAN, and Breitling’s Anthem. Colonel Hampton is a frequent guest discussing foreign affairs and geopolitics on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, the BBC, Newsmax, Sirius XM, IHeart Radio, and NPR. He has been a guest analyst for Bill O'Reilly, Hannity, Neil Cavuto, The Cycle, and Anderson Cooper360.

Hampton consults for the U.S. and allied governments on counterterrorism, and is the former CEO of MVI International, a private military company. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas A&M University; a Master of Science in Aeronautics; attended Exeter College, Oxford, and holds a Master of Arts from Dartmouth.

A member of U.S. Polo Federation and U.S. Fencing Association, he is a licensed Divemaster, rated commercial pilot, and speaks French and Arabic.
