Dan McGinn

Dan McGinn is the founder and CEO of McGinn and Company, a communications consulting practice that focuses on complex reputation challenges and the identification and analysis of key societal shifts. McGinn and Company is the third firm he founded in the last 25 years. His prior firms built reputations for rapid growth, innovative services, and personal and passionate client engagement, and they were both acquired by global consulting groups.

When the issues are front-page news and the public debate is raging, McGinn and his team are often engaged by counsel and top executives. He has helped premier clients navigate such hot-button issues as the childhood obesity problem facing beverage companies, product liability cases with the pharmaceutical industry, sports scandals within universities, environmental issues impacting natural resource companies and the massive restructuring of the American automobile industry. Over the past 25 years, he has represented more than 500 organizations, including corporations, universities, law firms, government agencies, non-profits, trade associations and more than a third of the Fortune 100. In a testament to his skills and commitment, virtually all of his clients are referral-based.

Beyond the complex reputation work, McGinn also is deeply engaged in the study of cultural and societal trends. Dan and his team study seven trend arenas encompassing demographics, behavioral patterns, evolving family structures and cultural influences to identify fundamental shifts of interest to clients. The insights drawn from this research are actionable in order to create a competitive advantage for clients. Over the past decade, he has been invited to present his research findings to more than 300 groups.

McGinn has been a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, Fox News, CNN, and other news outlets. He is a graduate of Georgetown University. He and his wife Debby and their beloved King Charles Cavalier, Gracie, live in Arlington, VA, and Delray Beach, Florida.
